17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office Files Various Charges Against Jeremy Chavez Related to an Amber Alert in Commerce City

Brighton, CO – The District Attorney’s Office announced today the filing of various criminal charges against Jeremy Chavez, 45, related to an alleged incident that led to an Amber Alert in Commerce City on February 13, 2026. 

Chavez is charged with: 

  • Second-Degree Burglary (F3)
  • Second-Degree Motor Vehicle Theft (F4) (2 Counts)
  • Attempt to Commit Motor Vehicle Theft in the Second Degree (F5) (2 Counts)
  • Vehicular Eluding (F5) (2 Counts)
  • First-Degree Criminal Trespass (F6)
  • Reckless Endangerment (M2)
  • Child Abuse (M2)
Case number 2026CR000484 was filed in Adams County District Court. Chavez's next court appearance is on March 11, 2026, at 8:30am in Division 7. 

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed offense(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
