17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office Files Charges Against Defendants related to November 29th Shooting and Traffic Incident in Commerce City


Brighton, CO —Today, the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is announcing the filing of charges against Oscar Gurrola, 27, and Estevan Valverde, 28, for their alleged roles in a traffic incident and shooting involving Commerce City Police and the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred along Brighton Road in Commerce City on November 29, 2021.

Gurrola’s charges include:
  • Attempted Murder in the First Degree—(F2) (4 counts)
  • Assault in the First Degree—(F3) (4 counts)
  • Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender (F6)
Valverde’s charges include:
  • Assault in the First Degree (F3)
  • Accessory to a Crime (F4) (4 counts)
  • Vehicular Eluding (F5)
 
Case number 2021CR004045 (Gurrola) was filed in Adams County District Court. Gurrola’s next court appearance is pending.

Case number 2021CR004051 (Valverde) was filed in Adams County District Court. Valverde’s next court appearance is pending.

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed a crime(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
