17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office Files Attempted Murder Charge Against Ismael Barajas Aguilar

Brighton, CO – The District Attorney’s Office announced today the filing of criminal charges against Ismael Barajas Aguilar, 39, related to an alleged shooting that occurred on February 5, 2026, inside an apartment in the 9700 Block of Pearl Street. 

Barajas Aguilar is charged with: 

  • Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder in the Second Degree (F3)
  • Assault in the Second Degree (F4)
  • Vehicular Eluding (F4)
  • Resisting Arrest (M2)
  • Crime of Violence (SE)
Case number 2026CR000423 was filed in Adams County District Court. Barajas Aguilar's next court appearance is on March 12, 2026, at 8:30am in Division 7. 

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed offense(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
