17th Judicial District Attorney's Office Charges Jose Duarte-Campos With Unlawfully Aiming a Laser Device at an Aircraft


August 6, 2025

Brighton, CO – The District Attorney’s Office announced today the filing of a charge of Unlawfully Aiming a Laser Device at an Aircraft against Jose Duarte-Campos, 41, for allegedly pointing a laser at a Colorado State Patrol aircraft unit on July 31, 2025, in Commerce City.

Duarte-Campos is charged with:

  • Unlawfully Aiming a Laser Device at an Aircraft (F6)

  • Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (DM1)

  • DUI (M)

  • Driving Under Restraint (TIA)

Case number 2025CR002173 was filed in Adams County District Court. Duarte-Campos’ next court appearance is scheduled for August 6, 2025, at 1:30pm.

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed offense(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
