Brighton, CO — The District Attorney’s Office announced today that Jeremiah Mullins, 32, has been sentenced to 25 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections for a series of violent crimes committed in Westminster and Thornton, including the attempted kidnapping of a teenage girl.
On October 25, 2024, Mullins was driving a stolen vehicle when he approached a juvenile female near 128th Avenue and Delaware Street in Westminster. He pointed a gun at her and demanded she get into the car. The victim stalled by claiming she had money in her backpack. As a bystander approached, Mullins grabbed the girl’s backpack and fled. The victim flagged down a nearby driver, who called 911.
The Westminster Police Department quickly launched an investigation. Through surveillance footage, witness interviews, and additional evidence, officers identified Mullins and arrested him.
Further investigation by Westminster and Thornton detectives linked Mullins to a string of armed robberies and carjackings committed earlier that same day:
Mullins robbed a man at gunpoint, stealing his phone, wallet, and other belongings.
He then confronted a woman returning home with her young child, demanding her car keys at gunpoint. He drove her vehicle into a nearby field and abandoned it.
Later that morning, Mullins entered another woman’s vehicle, held her at gunpoint, and forced her to drive a short distance before attempting—and failing—to steal her car.
On June 10, 2025, Mullins pleaded guilty to the following charges:
Aggravated Robbery (F3)
Second-Degree Attempted Kidnapping (F3)
Second-Degree Motor Vehicle Theft (F4)
“This was an outrageous crime that terrorized a teenage girl as well as our entire community,” said District Attorney Brian Mason. “The defendant, who was a complete stranger, targeted an innocent teenage girl in broad daylight—an act that is as brazen as it is dangerous. He also held three separate victims at gunpoint, terrorizing them and stealing one of their cars. I commend the brave young teenager for her courage and quick thinking, which saved her from further harm. And I am grateful to the Westminster and Thornton Police Departments for their swift and thorough investigation into these crimes and to my team at the DA’s Office for securing the convictions in this horrific case.”
On July 29, 2025, Adams County District Court Judge Brett Martin sentenced Mullins to 25 years in prison.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Aaron Brunskill.
