17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office Files First-Degree Murder Charge Against 15-Year-Old in Adams County

Brighton, CO – The District Attorney’s Office announced today the filing of a First-Degree Murder charge and several other criminal charges against a 15-year-old juvenile in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on January 9, 2025, along East 62nd Avenue in Aurora, Colorado. 

The juvenile is facing the following charges: 

  • First-Degree Murder (F1) 
  • First-Degree Attempted Murder (F2) 
  • Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile (M2) 
  • Aggravated Juvenile Offender (Sentence Enhancer) (2 Counts) 

The case has been filed in Adams County Juvenile Court. Due to the juvenile’s age and the nature of the case being filed in Juvenile Court, no additional details regarding the juvenile or the specifics of the incident can be released at this time. 

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed offense(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
