17th Judicial District Attorney's Office Files Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death Charge Against Zachary Brooks

Brighton, CO —Today, the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is announcing the filing of a Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death charge against Zachary Brooks, 41, related to an alleged hit and run accident that resulted in the death of a 68-year-old man along Brighton Boulevard in Commerce City on November 12, 2023. 

Brooks is charged with:   
  • Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death (F3)
Case number 2025CR000126 was filed in Adams County District Court. Brooks' next court appearance is on January 16, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. in Courtroom F. 

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed a crime(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
