17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office Charges Defendant with Vehicular Homicide and Leaving the Scene of an Accident Causing Death

Brighton, CO —Today, the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is announcing the filing of Vehicular Homicide and Leaving the Scene of an Accident Causing Death charges against Brandon Monroe, 38. The charges are related to a fatal traffic incident that allegedly caused the death of a 16-year-old female at the intersection of East 76th Avenue and Leyden Lane in Adams County on April 11, 2023. 

Monroe is charged with: 
  • Vehicular Homicide--DUI (F3)
  • Leaving the Scene of an Accident Causing Death (F3)
  • Vehicular Homicide--Reckless Driving (F4)
Case number 23CR1553 was filed in Adams County District Court. Monroe's next court appearance is on June 23, 2023, at 8:30am in Courtroom R2. 

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed a crime(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
