April 10, 2023

Brighton, CO — Today, District Attorney Brian Mason is announcing that Christopher Mills, 38, has been sentenced to 25 years to life in the Department of Corrections following his conviction for Sexual Assault on a Child on February 1, 2023.

In 2019, Mills sexually assaulted his girlfriend's 8-year-old daughter. The assaults occurred on several occasions and included inappropriate touching and oral sex. The victim reported the abuse to her mother in 2021. The mother confronted Mills, kicked him out of their home, and called authorities to report the crimes.

On February 1, 2023, an Adams County Jury convicted Mills of the following charges:

  • Sexual Assault on a Child Pattern of Abuse (F3)
  • Sexual Assault on a Child Position of Trust (F3)
  • Sexual Assault on a Child (F4)
  • Sentence Enhancer: Aggravated Sex Offense (2 counts)

On April 4, 2023, an Adams County District Court Judge sentenced Mills to 25 years to life in the Department of Corrections. Mills has an extensive criminal history that dates back to 2002 and includes convictions on charges such as Felony Menacing, Third-Degree Assault, and Stalking.

"
This defendant preyed on an eight-year-old girl," said District Attorney Brian Mason. "His actions were absolutely despicable and the jury, judge and my prosecution team rightly held him accountable for them."

Senior Deputy District Attorney Brian McGarry and Deputy District Attorney JP McCarty led the prosecution of this case.
