17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office Files Charges Against Man Accused of Impersonating Peace Officer

Brighton, CO —Today, the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is announcing the filing of charges against Jose Flores Ortiz, 37, for allegedly impersonating a peace officer. Flores Ortiz is accused of pulling over an off-duty Adams County Sheriff's Deputy in Brighton on September 3, 2022. 

Flores Ortiz's charges include:
  • Impersonating a Peace Officer (F6)
  • Prohibited Use of a Weapon (M1)
  • Driving Under the Influence (M)
  • Reckless Driving (T2)
  • Use or Possession of Red or Blue Lights (M2)
  • Illegal Possession or Consumption of Alcohol in Motor Vehicle 
Case number 2022CR002749 was filed in Adams County District Court. Flores Ortiz's next court appearance will be on September 16, 2022, at 1:30pm. 

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed a crime(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
