17th Judicial District Attorney's Office Files Charges Against Demetrio Urbina and Araceli Urbina

Brighton, CO – The District Attorney’s Office announced today the filing of various charges against Demetrio Urbina, 39, and Araceli Urbina, 32, as the result of an animal cruelty investigation that occurred at their home in Commerce City. 

Demetrio Urbina is charged with: 

  • Attempted Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender (F6)
  • Unlawful Conduct Involving an Unserialized Firearm, Frame, or Receiver (M1) (2 Counts)
  • Child Abuse (M2) (3 Counts)
  • Unauthorized Practice of Profession or Occupation -- Veterinary Medicine (M2)
  • Cruelty to Animals (M1) (31 Counts)
Araceli Urbina is charged with: 
  • Child Abuse (M2) (3 Counts)

Case numbers 25CR2471 and 25CR2470 were filed in Adams County District Court. Demetrio Urbina's next court appearance is on September 29, 2025, at 9:30am. Araceli Urbina's next court appearance is on October 3, 2025, at 8:45am. 

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed offense(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
