Brighton, CO — The District Attorney’s Office announced today that Rodrick Maye, 45, has been sentenced to 20 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections for possessing with intent to distribute large quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine.

In case number 24CR1615, a Thornton Police Officer observed Maye’s vehicle weaving into oncoming traffic on East 88th Avenue on May 25, 2024. During the traffic stop, Maye displayed signs of impairment, failed roadside sobriety tests, and was arrested for DUI.

Officers found multiple open containers of alcohol inside the vehicle. A search uncovered a Crown Royal bag in the center console containing two clear plastic bags of blue M30 fentanyl pills weighing 211 grams. Also in the vehicle was a scale, numerous empty plastic baggies, and a lunch bag containing additional packaged narcotics:

  • Multiple baggies of methamphetamine weighing 378 grams

  • Blue M40 fentanyl pills weighing 56 grams

  • Cocaine weighing 4 grams

  • Under the driver’s seat, officers located a .45 caliber handgun loaded with a magazine and one round in the chamber, along with an additional fully loaded .45 magazine and a fully loaded black 9mm magazine.

On May 16, 2025, Maye pleaded guilty in 24CR1615 to Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl (over 50 grams), a Class 1 Drug Felony, and Driving Under the Influence.

On August 13, 2025, Adams County District Court Judge Sean Finn sentenced him to 20 years in prison on each case, to be served concurrently.

“This defendant had significant amounts of drugs that he had planned to distribute into our community and now will go to prison instead,” said District Attorney Brian Mason. “By taking this armed drug dealer off the streets, we continue our efforts to protect this community from the devastating impact of fentanyl, meth, and cocaine.”
