17th Judicial District Attorney's Office Files First-Degree Murder Charge Against Ethan Jennings

Brighton, CO —Today, the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is announcing the filing of a First-Degree Murder charge against Ethan Jennings, 21, related to a shooting that caused the death of 20-year-old Makayla Lawrence and injuries to two other victims in the 7300 Block of Oneida Drive in Commerce City on September 6, 2024. 

Jennings is charged with: 
  • First-Degree Murder (F1)
  • First-Degree Attempted Murder (F2) (2 Counts)
  • First-Degree Assault (F3) (2 Counts)
  • Crime of Violence (Sentence Enhancer) (4 Counts)
Case number 2024CR002944 was filed in Adams County District Court.

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed a crime(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
