17th Judicial District Attorney's Office Files First-Degree Murder Charge Against 16-Year-Old Defendant

Brighton, CO —Today, the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is announcing the filing of a First-Degree Murder charge against Xavier Garcia, 16, related to the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old victim at 2025 Tower Road on March 23, 2024.  

Garcia is charged with:  
  • First-Degree Murder (F1)
  • Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile (M2)
Case number 2024CR000984 was direct filed into Adams County District Court. Garcia's next court date is scheduled for April 3, 2024, at 8:30am in Division F. 

Booking photos are not available for juvenile defendants even when they are direct filed into District Court. 

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed a crime(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
