17th Judicial District Attorney's Office Files Second-Degree Murder Charge Against 17-Year-Old in Adams County

Brighton, CO —Today, the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is announcing the filing of a Second-Degree Murder charge and various other charges against Enrique Leon-Madera, 17, related to an alleged motor vehicle theft and subsequent vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a victim in the 1900 Block of Dayton Street in Aurora on March 17, 2024. 

Leon-Madera is charged with:  
  • Second-Degree Murder (F2)
  • Vehicular Eluding (F3) 
  • Aggravated Robbery (F3)
  • Vehicular Homicide (F4) (2 Counts)
  • Second-Degree Motor Vehicle Theft (F4) (2 Counts)
  • Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile (M2)
Case number 2024CR000879 was direct filed into Adams County District Court. Leon-Madera's next court date is scheduled for May 8, 2024 at 8:30am.  

Booking photos are not available for juvenile defendants even when they are direct filed into District Court. 


The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed a crime(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
