17th Judicial District Attorney's Office Files Attempted First-Degree Murder Charge Against Danny Martinez

Brighton, CO —Today, the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is announcing the filing of an Attempted First-Degree Murder charge against Danny Martinez, 36, for allegedly shooting an Adams County Sheriff's Deputy on August 13, 2023, along Federal Boulevard in Adams County. 

Martinez is charged with:  
  • Attempted 1st-Degree Murder (F2)
  • 1st-Degree Assault (F3)
  • 2nd-Degree Motor Vehicle Theft
  • Vehicular Eluding (F5) 
  • Special Offender (DF1)
  • Possession with Intent to Manufacture or Distribute a Controlled Substance (DF2)
  • Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender (F5)
  • Crime of Violence (Sentence Enhancer)
Case number 2023CR002538 was filed in Adams County District Court. Martinez's next court appearance is on August 22, 2023, at 1:30pm in Courtroom 6. 

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed a crime(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
