17th Judicial District Attorney's Office Files Attempted Murder Charge Against Kenneth Fairchild

Brighton, CO —Today, the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is announcing the filing of an Attempted Murder charge against Kenneth Fairchild, 45, for allegedly firing a gunshot in the direction of a group of individuals who were eating outside at Jus Burritos along U.S. Highway 287 in Broomfield on July 8, 2023. 

Fairchild is charged with various counts related to alleged incidents that occurred in Broomfield, Arvada, Thornton, unincorporated Adams County, and Commerce City on July 8th: 

  • Attempted First-Degree Murder--Extreme Indifference (F1) (3 Counts)
  • Fourth-Degree Arson (F4)
  • Illegal Discharge of a Firearm (F5) (3 Counts)
  • Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender (F5)
  • Criminal Mischief (F6)
  • Prohibited Use of a Weapon (M1)
  • Violation of a Protection Order (M1)
  • Criminal Mischief (M1)
  • Reckless Endangerment (M2) (9 Counts)
  • Criminal Mischief (M2) (2 Counts)
  • Driving Under the Influence (M)
Case number 2023CR000360 was filed in Broomfield County District Court. 

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed a crime(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
