Adams and Broomfield
Family Justice Center

COMING SOON! Opening in 2026

The District Attorney's Office, in partnership with community stakeholders, is leading the effort to bring a FJC to serve Adams and Broomfield counties.

“This Family Justice Center represents a major step forward in how we support survivors of domestic violence in Adams and Broomfield Counties. For the first time, survivors will be able to come to one place and access the full range of services they need—legal help, counseling, housing, advocacy, and more. It’s a powerful example of what we can achieve when government, nonprofits, and the community come together to make safety and healing a priority.”

— District Attorney Brian Mason

Adams County Human Services Center – Family Justice Center Location

About the FJC: The District Attorney’s Office, in partnership with key community stakeholders, is leading the effort to bring a Family Justice Center (FJC) to the 17th Judicial District, serving Adams and Broomfield counties. With the support of our community partners, we will open the FJC in 2026.

What is a Family Justice Center: A Family Justice Center (FJC) is a safe, welcoming location offering essential, wrap-around community services to survivors of violence in one place. This model is recognized across the nation and around the world as a best practice for helping individuals and families find safety and healing.

Who It Will Serve: The Family Justice Center will provide compassionate, individualized services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and elder abuse.

Your Choice. Your Path. ALL SURVIVORS WELCOME. Survivors decide which supports to access, regardless of their decision to report to law enforcement.

How Do Survivors Get Help? At the FJC, survivors will connect with a client navigator to help them safety plan and obtain timely in-person or virtual services and supports, all in one place.

"As survivors, we know that no matter the situation, finding the support you need makes a difference. You are not invisible. You are seen, heard, and valued. Our hope is that the choice for a safer path can start at the FJC."

Timeline: The Family Justice Center project in Adams and Broomfield Counties has been years in the making. It began with the creation of the District Attorney’s Office’s Special Victims Unit, which handles domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking cases. That effort expanded into the Domestic Violence High-Risk Team in the 17th Judicial District, which triages cases for lethality risk to ensure survivors receive immediate, targeted support. The Family Justice Center inside the Adams County Human Services Center is the next step in that coordinated response — a collaborative effort backed by strong community partnerships and the support of the Adams County Board of Commissioners.

  • In 2022, the DA's Office, law enforcement, and service providers created a multi-disciplinary Domestic Violence High-Risk Team for the 17th Judicial District (Adams and Broomfield, Colorado) to provide an enhanced response to DV situations and reduce the risk of further harm to the survivor.
  • In February of 2024, the Family Justice Center Alliance visited the 17th Judicial District for a site study to determine if the jurisdiction was ready for the creation of a Family Justice Center. The FJC Alliance said they have never seen a jurisdiction as prepared for an FJC as Adams and Broomfield.
  • In June of 2024, the FJC Alliance returned to the 17th Judicial District and joined the DA's Office, Adams and Broomfield County leadership, law enforcement, service providers, victims, and other community leaders to begin the strategic planning process.
  • In October 2025, DA Brian Mason, community leaders, service providers, and community partners unveiled the Family Justice Center space inside of the Adams County Human Services Center in Westminster with the announcement the FJC is anticipated to open in mid to late 2026.
