The first Senior Law Day for the 17th Judicial District was held last June and was an overwhelming success with more than 300 attendees.
We will provide much needed legal information to senior citizens, their family members, caregivers and service providers. The event will include 16 workshops on legal issues affecting senior citizens including estate planning, advance directives, Medicare, Social Security, conservatorships and guardianships, end of life decisions, fraud prevention and financial exploitation.
The event will feature informational booths from service providers and agencies, and an Ask-A-Lawyer program where attendees may have a free 15-minute consultation with an elder law attorney.
Each attendee will receive the Colorado Bar Association’s Senior Law Handbook, a 500-plus page resource manual with chapters on 34 legal issues concerning seniors. A continental breakfast and lunch will be served.
The event sponsored by the 17th Judicial District Senior Law Day Planning Committee, whose members include the District Attorney’s Office and 17th Judicial District, Adams and Broomfield counties, elder law attorneys from law firms including Tolison & Williams, Werth Law and the Bell Law Firm, Adams County Aging Network (ACAN) and representatives from municipalities and senior centers in our district.
